New Milford @ Myrtle Beach

Blazers travel down south to face the Hitmen.


Game 1:  Greene @ Santiago

A Centeno RBI single in the first give the Hitmen a 1-0 lead,

McCann and Weeks HR to highlight a 5 run third inning.

AN Aoki double in the bottom half makes it 5-2.

A 5th inning Weeks 2 RBI double and Tulo sac fly make it 8-2.

A 7th inning bases loaded walk by Freeman and HBP by Dietrich and it’s 10-2.

Blazers win an ugly one (for the first time in a LOOOOONG time) 12-2.

Game 2:  Tanaka @ Jiminez

A Kinsler first inning RBI single is matched by a Chisenhall solo shot.

A third inning Betts RBI triple, Kinsler RBI single and Saunders RBI double is almost matched by a Span 2 run jack.

Top 4, Dietrich hits his first HR of the year, a two run job, to make it 6-3.

Top 9, Grandy gives an insurance run on a HR and Blazers win 7-3.

Game 3:  Quintana @ Tropeano

Quintana goes 6, with 6 baserunners and no ER.

Blazers score 14 with Saunders 2B, 3B and 4 RBI.  Every Blazer starter minus Tulo had at least one RBI.  Blazers win 14-0.

Game 4:  Moore @ Morgan


Hitmen take out their frustrations on Moore scoring 5 in the first.  After an error to lead off, Gregorious hit a 2 run bomb, Burns hit a 2 run single, and Cervelli was HBP with the bases loaded after batting around.  Gregorious lined out to center with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Top 3, McCann HR to left to put the Blazers on the board 5-1.  Betts then HR’d to make it 5-2.

Top 9, Carpenter with a RBI single and Freeman with a 2 RBI triple and we have a tie ball game.


Free Baseball.

Top 11, Betts and Kinsler with RBI singles and it’s 7-5 Blazers.

Kimbrel closes the door for his 22nd on the miraculous come from behind win and series sweep.

New Milford @ Granite State

Blazers travel up north to face the Lightning.


Game 1:  Greene @ Eickhoff


Top 2, Grandy homers to center for a 1-0 Blazer lead.

Bottom 9, Kimbrel on for the save and a two out walk, double, and wild pitch ties the game.



Top 11, a Freeman RBI triple and Kinsler RBI single put the Blazers up 2 and Cervenka makes it stand.

Game 2:  Tanaka @ Nolasco

a Freeman 2 run bomb in the first puts the Blazers up 2-0.

Lightning strikes for one in the 6th on a Bruce solo shot.

Bottom 9, Kimbrel strikes out Crisp to end it.

Game 3:  Quintana @ Volquez

Blazers score 5 runs in the first 3 innings, 4 unearned.

Top 4, Freeman doubles in Kim and it’s 6-0.

Boring write up, but that’s what happened.

Game 4:  Moore @ Gray

Top 5, Kim HR’s to right for a 3-0 lead.

Bottom half, Lightning get 2 back on a Frazier HR.

Top 7, Saunders HR’s with a man on and it’s 5-2.

Bottom half, Frazier with a RBI groundout to make it 5-3.

Top 8, Tulo with a solo shot and it’s 6-3.

Kimbrel on in the 9th and lets a run score but escapes with a 6-4 Blazer win and series sweep.

Buffs travel to New Milford to take on the Blazers.


Game 1:  Kennedy @ Greene

Top 1, and with 2 runners on and one out, Headley rips a ball into the gap that Betts dives for and makes a spectacular catch.  Encarnacion tries to tag from second and Betts guns him at third. (play of the game)


Bottom 4, Kinsler with a solo shot and it’s 1-0 NM.

Top 5, Brian McCann ties it up with a bomb of his own,

Bottom 8, Kinsler singles in Betts and it’s 2-1.

Kimbrel K’s the side for a 2-1 Blazer win.

Game 2:  Peralta @ Tanaka

A Schleber third inning single puts the Buffs on the board 1-0.

Bottom half, Betts ties it up with a solo bomb.

Top 4, McCann HR’s again for a 2-1 WKB lead.

Bottom 4, a Tulo sac fly ties it up.

Bottom 6, a groundout and error give the Blazers 2 runs for a 4-2 lead.

Kimbrel closes it out again for a 4-2 Blazer win,

Game 3:  Wilson @ Quintana

Quintana, battered for 4 runs and 8 hits in the first 3 innings, leaves the game with an injury.

Bottom 4, a Grandy 3 run jack cuts the Buffs lead to 4-3.

Bottom 7, Grandy goes long ball again to tie it up.


Bottom 10, with one out, Saunders crushes one to right to provide the home crowd with the walk off win,.

Game 4:  Neal @ Moore

A 4th inning single by Dietrich plates Freeman and Blazers are up 1-0.

Top 6, a Vargas single ties the game at 1.

Bottom half, a Dietrich sac fly gives the Blazers a 2-1 lead.

Top 8, Encarnacion crushed one to left to tie the game.




Bottom 10, with one out, just like the night before, Freeman decides to do something useful for the first time all chapter and kills one to right for the identical walk off win,

Blazers are still not hitting but do just enough to win 3 one run games.  Blazers take a virtual one game lead over Salem.



New Milford and Kansas City

Blazers play a home and home series with the upstart Boulevards.


Game 1:  Chacin @ Greene

Bottom 1, Kinsler with a 3 run jack put the Blazers up 3-0.

Top 6, lefty Cervenka on to face the lefties Blackmon and Cano, who walk and HR, to pull KCB within a run.

Bottom 8, Saunders rips a RBI single to make to 4-2.

Top 9, Kimbrel on and walks Hosmer and Perez to start the inning.  With the tying runs aboard, K, pop up, K and Blazers win the opener 4-2.

Game 2:  Carrasco @ Tanaka

Top 8, Perez reaches first on a Carpenter error with one out.  He steals second and scampers home on a Blackmon single.

Tanaka goes 7.2 with 3 H, 0 BB and the unearned run but suffers the tough luck loss in a KCB 1-0 win.

Game 3:  Quintana @ Velazquez

Top 6, Betts crushed one to center for a 1-0 lead and with 2 outs, Grandy killed one to right for a 4-0 Blazer lead.

Bottom 7, a Cano HR but the Blazer lead in half, 4-2.

Top 9, a Carpenter RBI double made it 5-2, and Kimbrel closed it out by striking out the side.

Game 4:  Moore @ Nola


Moore had been pitching way over his head.  I guess you’d rather the stat correction happen in one game, like with Greene in chapter 1,  then be drawn out over multiple bad outings.

Duvall 2 run HR.

Yeaaaaaah.  Game over.

Moore gives up 17 baserunners and 10 ER in 5 IP.  Boulevards get the split in a 10-4 over and out drubbing.

Blazers are running in place with a 8-8 record in chapter 2.  Thankfully, the Hitmen, Buffs, and Lightning are the only teams left to play.

I think the Blazers have been outscored in every series this chapter.


Blazers aren’t hitting worth a lick.  More than a quarter of the way through the season (11 series) and the team OPS is a dismal .725.   IF that doesn’t change Salem will win it’s first division since the Bush administration.
